Description
Jean Gautreau Vintage:2005The 1996 Cuve Jean Gautreau is a blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc picked between September 23 and October 8. It has an attractive blackberry and iris bouquet, flecks of truffle and smoke emerging with aeration, and displays more charm than the 1995. The plush but not overbearing palate is medium bodied with fine tannin, a neat line of acidity and a subtle touch of spice on the finish. Tasted at the vertical tasting at
with a herbal note that is akin to the eucalypt of Coonawarra or Margaret River
This is certainly quite ripe but there is good tension and this should amply repay extended cellaring
a singular effort in the lineup that stands out for its rich blueberry and mulberry fruit as well as ample spring flowers
The supple
deeply concentrated red berry and cherry flavors display impressive lift and drive
This is an excellent Gevrey villages and worth your interest
Happily here there is no reduction present on the ultra-spicy and floral nose where soft wood frames the ripe aromas of various dark berries and plum scents
capping it at 2030
If you you have the money
Blanchots Dessous and En Journoblot)
all of the wines fermented spontaneously
Suave and polished to the core
