Tallis’ Map of Tasmania Date of Publication_1742This map of Tasmania was engraved by John Rapkin for the Illustrated Atlas'. John Rogers engraved the black and white vignettes including Hobart Town, the residence of the Van Diemens Land Company agent, and Thylacinus Cynocephalus (the Tasmanian Tiger), now extinct in some measure due to bounties paid out by the VDL Company. Condition & Materials Steel engraving, 35 x 25 cm, original outline colour, blank verso.
