Fontodi, Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna Sorbo other_regions_italyJust as it was last year, the 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo is magnificent. Dark, brooding and reticent, the 2016 is not ready to show all it's got. If anything, the 2016 is even more reticent than it was last year at this time. Vigna del Sorbo has a great track record for aging. I have no doubt the 2016 will blossom in bottle, but that is not going to happen anytime soon. Antonio Galloni

The 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Chaupin is all Grenache

the last time it was produced was way back in 2008

with very integrated oak and a nice texture

quite earthy and resinous

this offers good potential for drinking over the next decade – but no further

indeed almost suave finish that cannot disguise the impressive power and robust structure

perhaps overwhelmed by the succeeding vintage
